Hi, Im wanting to center a photo in a phpwebsite block and have found that I cant by way of align="center"...it just gets ignored. So I added a <div align="center">, it works but Validator says "Dont!". Im wondering if: 1. I can use div and ahef together 2. If so what order is legal <div><a href>... or <a href><div>... Thanx. Thanx Bruce. Oh the things we learn about too late. Im running phpbb in phpwebsite which is xhtml. However I seem to have been writing just html. I use <br> and not <br />. So what ur telling me (well u havent said it yet but would have) is that I will have to go thru all my templates and change all the one off tage like <br> <img src> etc to <br /> <img src... />? Just a whisper of a yes will do. Also, when I write html for my boxes etc I will have to change them to xhtml...thought so. Thanx Bruce. Wayne :Nerd:

Just did an html check using validator.v3.org and it said to change my ">" to" />". I have also noticed use of "(space)/>". Whats te difference between the two "/>"`s? Wayne

There seems to be V1 and v2 of CPanel running on TCH. I had my CP change from v1 to v2 and then back to v1 once. I found v2 to respond quicker. When my CP reverted to v1 I sent in a ticket requesting v2. All is good in the v2 world. Wayne Rock Sign

Hi Andy, thax for the very quick response. Also got a very quick response from LizP on the desk. Apparetly there was some sql glitch and all is well now. Just bad timing by myself I guess. Hi all, just came home and accessed website and got "Unable to load database indicated by configuration file." message. Went to CPanel and saw that I had NO databases so opened phpMyAdmin and wullah empty. Crikes I think. Submitted a ticket and then went for another look in phpMyAdmin and they were all there and the site was working again. What the heck? How do DBs disappear and reappear again? Maybe a server problem? Also, my site has been accessing rather slowly of late. Hmmmmm... Wayne, but Rock Sign still

Bruce, thanx for your reply. The 2nd part of my posting was saying that I requested a backup that was automatically saved to my computer (saving to my computer rather than the TCH server). Usually when I do a backup to the TCH server (and get a mail confirmation) the file comes out at about 30MB. The file that was saving to my computer got to 40MB and I cancelled the backup. There must be a different compression method between a backup to the TCH server and a backup to the website owners computer. Just wondering why the difference in backup file size... Hope I have explained it better...still kinda dribbly though. Wayne

Hi all, just wondering...probably something written in the users manual but I`ll ask...when I have a backup of my site or db ftp`d to me does that count towards my monthly bandwwidth allocation? If I do a save to TCH host backup my site gets to 30MB. I did a full site backup send request and it go to 40MB so I hit the eject button as I was unsure how far things would go. Any input appreciated, Wayne Rock Sign

Hi all, I dont know if this is possible but... I have phpws0932 running and a mobile site. I want to access only parts of my phpws by mobile phone. Say the Restaurant Guide and Movie Guide. Is there a way to call up only 1 box of PHPwebsite rather than the whole site on a separate page? So I dont have to build new databases ...I can just access them (an individual box) by mobile. Any ideas appreciated. Wayne

Bruce and Samantha, thanx for the feedback. Have found that viewing in different browsers gives different output Mad!!! Ended up going with this <table align=center cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"> <tr><td> <img src=http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/images/top.gif><br> <img src=http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/images/vert.gif><iframe src=http://www.to-to-to.net/mobile/ height=310 width=186></iframe><img src=http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/images/vert.gif><br> <img src=http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/images/bottom.gif> </td></tr> </table> Still getting the gaps at the top...hmmmmm. Bruce, you hit the nail on the head. Thanx. Thanx Lisa too for the feedback. I have the "working example" as I have referred to it on my website here. However I have got some holes in the graphics blocks I`ve included. Here`s the html I used... <table align=center> <tr><td> <img src=http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/images/top.gif> </td></tr> <tr><td> <img src=http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/images/vert.gif><iframe src=http://www.to-to-to.net/mobile/ height=310 width=190></iframe><img src=http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/images/vert.gif> </td></tr> <tr><td> <img src=http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/images/bottom.gif> </td></tr> </table> Any ideas about removing the `holes`? Lisa, thanx for the reply. I just got back after working out my problem...<iframe src=...> was the answer. I`ll try to explain for other peoples reference...I wanted to open a PHPwebsite box and in it show my Mobile webpage (that being what people would see when viewing from their mobile phone). It works. Now Im going to add a graphic so it really looks like the mobile page is being seen on a mobile phone. Have a quick look at www.to-to-to.net for ref. Wayne Rock Sign

Gidday, have been watching my traffic and I got a major attack from/thru www.jeteye.com today. I put on an IP block thru cPanel but a few other entries got thru. I checked their site and they babble on about spiders etc to build up their database etc. Anyone else had any problems with these people? Just wondering what it could be...their spiders/bots or someone passing thru or something else. Any feedback appreciated. Especially from someone at TCH. I love TCH`s service and support. Just hoping they can do something when there is an annomily (sp?) of a member`s site. I usually get 30 to 50 visits a day and I just saw 183 till now. Surely the bells are ringing at TCH HQ and the digi-boys and gals are moving to Code Yellow. Love, peace and unstolen bandwidth, Wayne in Japan Rock Sign PS I just checked back on my stats and theyre still getting thru. Should I do an IP block on their full IP of part of it, eg the first 65 to stop everyone from that region of the www? Also where can I find the robots.txt file so I can add User-agent: JetBot Disallow: / ?

Ummmmmm, I think I may have found the problem...I did a source check on my front page and found that there was a </title> tag but no <title> tag so I added one to my theme.tpl and wallah things have sped up to what they were b4. Now Im wondering why that tag would have been corrupted....hmmmmm. But who cares...all works now. Rob and Andy, thanx for your feedback...both speedy and informative. As the Smilie says " Rock Sign" Wayne

Andy, I ran the Analyzer and have since dumped some of the graphic content from my website and things have moved out of the cautionary zone and sped up. Thanx for that. Im just wondering why things had decided to slow down only recently when I had had the same content from before the slow down...hmmmm. I still get a warning that the html is too big. Should I set up a new simple front page that connects to the phpwebsite and content behind that? Wayne Rock Sign

Andy, on the 300k idea...would size make that much difference or maybe the fact that it has to pull from so many different parts of my www folder? Thanx Rob, the Pix and FukuoaLive gif`s are in my Images folder. Only the Weather and ESL Events (center) are external. Hmmmmm...maybe Weather is slowing me down... From the fact that the address bar is complete (favicon etc) and then hangs seems that its is more internal within my www folder at TCH. Maybe I have a hiccup there. I cant see that the 2x Redirect 301 would cause an 8 sec or more delay...should go to to-to-to at TCH then to www folder, check htaccess file then load from Redirect. So maybe its after there...but then the load is complete...there is no miss-coding problems in the final appearance. One of my redirects, the /Mobile one has a "?$" in it...could that be something? Hunting for possibilites arent I? Wayne Here is my htaccess file... ========================= # -FrontPage- PHP_FLAG output_buffering On IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti* <Limit GET POST> #The next line modified by DenyIP order allow, deny #The next line modified by DenyIP #deny from all allow from all </Limit> <Limit PUT DELETE> order deny, allow deny from all </Limit> AuthName www.to-to-to.net AuthUserFile /home/tototon/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd AuthGroupFile /home/tototon/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.grp Redirect 301 /index.html http://www.to-to-to.net/phpwebsite/index.p..._position=85:85 Redirect 301 http://www.to-to-to.net/mobile/?$ http://www.to-to-to.net/mobile/index.html ========================

Thanx Rob and Andy, The reason for 2 redirects is that I run phpwebsite and like to change the main window with different mods...movie guide, restaurant guide etc. The site is 90% text. Maybe I should stop this? I also run a mobile site from the to-to-to TCH host. I have a /mobile folder in the www folder. 300k a bit large...maybe I should cut it back in the first instance. Your thoughts? Thanx again for the great feedback. Wayne Rock Sign

Gidday all, I hope this is the right place to post this topic... For the past week when I enter my url I get to see the the favicon in my browser address bar and then.........h-e-s-i-t-a-t-i-o-n...maybe 10 to 15 seconds then BANG! the the Redirect 301 address pops in the address bar and then whole site loads in a split second. I have 2 Redirect 301`s in place. Am running phpbb embedded in phpwebsite. Running on Server 53. Ive check with other browsers and have had firends check for me on their PCs. Everyone is getting the same delay, so must be website specific. Does anyone have any idead about what could be causing this? Wayne

Gidday TCH`ers, hows ur day? Awesome again today I hope. Im running a website here in Japan...city info etc and am working on a mobilephone site alongside it using html. I want to have people access using dadada.com/mobile as opposed to index.html on the end. Looks better to have the simple address when advertising etc. I tried a redirect 301 but ended up with a long line of index.htmlindex.htmlindex.html`s. Im wondering how to do a Redirect when the user just enters a folder address rather than an acutal file address. Thus, redirect from the folder to the index.html it contains. Is it just a different Redirect 30x number? Wayne Rock Sign

Thanks for that Lisa. Wayne
