I too have my site as my homepage. Not narcissism, I am just always tinkering with it. I didn't know bout the multiple tab opening in firebird trick, I'll have to try that (thanks btw). At work it's the website I take care of (local tv station news site in Cleveland). I have the google toolbar setup in both ie and firebird. Also I keep quick links ready for all the sites I frequent on the links area of the address bar.

Sorry, you're right, I misspoke (long day for me). Movabletype IS NOT open source. I would say that theoretically, wordpress is a better program because it makes the pages on the fly rather that having to rebuild every time you post an entry (I find that a little annoying). But I wanted easy to use features that I didn't have to be a coder to use. I think that movable is very staight forward (kind of like building a xml page really). I was also very turned off by their support forums (guess that I got used to TCH's and have been spoiled). More argueing than constructive discussion IMHO. Heh, to each their own. In a few years it'll probably be a nice solid and dynamic program. They are very aware of developing tech and are trying to tie it into the programs design. Heck, as easy as it is to convert blogs, I might go back eventually.

In no particular order: webmonkey Cool Tools World wide web consortium Site about line length and design Dev Shed forums CSS template site Glish - another css site A list apart:: I think every web designer should read this one Free gif animations Web design references Jeff Zeldman's site Well, that's enough for now I think. Happy surfin. Rock Sign BTW, If you want a blog I'd suggest Movable type. I've tried out a few of these (blogger, b2, wordpress, tiki wiki) and I think it is by far the most dynamic and feature rich (well tiki wiki has more stuff, but it's almost overwhelming). Easy to set up too. And it's open source. Speakin of open source, one more site for ya: Sourceforge

In the last two weeks I have discovered that my computer has a BKDR_COREFLOOD.A virus that has caused me no end of pain in trying to remove. I have been using the Trend Micro AV that came on my computer (always updated a few times a week) and the generic firewall provided by windows (silly me). I have installed the free Zone Alarm firewall (it seems ok, but now I can't get my network to work right) and will probably be purchasing a beefed up firewall tomorrow when my paycheck comes. So, what exactly is the best bang for the buck when it comes to Firewalls and AV's? What are the pro's and con's for the different programs you have used? And, if anyone has any suggestions for getting this off my computer completely and for good I'd love to hear from you. I already turned off system restore, deleted the files the AV caught, and fixed the registry bugs, but somehow I keep getting infected. In fact, I suspect that the virus has somehow attached itself to the AV software and affected it (of course I'm not sure, just suspect). Thanks guys and gals, Jeremy

Hello everyone. I had this same problem (which our wonderful support team fixed for me). It was a hotlink issue with the .htaccess file. I used cpanel to set this up, so it makes me wonder if there is an issue with the automated setup??? I'm a bootstrap webmaster (more like webjourneyman actually) so any insights from the experts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've been lookin all over for a referal script that I can put in my site (including the phpbb overall header). It needs to: open a popup with multiple address inputs send a link for my homepage (duh) allow you to add a message I'd really like it to: use your default email if its possible to inject text into the body (anybody know that trick?) or else just use your address book (even though I doubt that's possible without using the default email) Be able to insert a graphic into the text field Could anybody point me in the right direction or maybe already have a script like that? Rock Sign

It's just in the body for now like this: ><img name="concreteutopiaheader" src="images/concreteutopiaheader.jpg" width="700" height="145" border="0" id="concreteutopiaheader" usemap="#m_concreteutopiaheader" alt="" /> <map name="m_concreteutopiaheader" id="m_concreteutopiaheader"> <area shape="rect" coords="644,119,688,140" href="/links/index.html" target="_self" title="Interesting Links" alt="Interesting Links" /> <area shape="rect" coords="570,119,631,140" href="http://novalux.concreteutopia.com/index.html" target="_self" title="Novalux Fine Art Studio" alt="Novalux Fine Art Studio" /> <area shape="rect" coords="522,119,560,140" href="/forum/" target="_self" title="Forum" alt="Forum" /> <area shape="rect" coords="468,120,512,140" href="/news/index.html" target="_self" title="News and Information" alt="News and Information" /> <area shape="rect" coords="10,69,326,120" href="/index.html" target="_self" title="Home" alt="Home" /> </map>

OK, I've been racking my brain trying to figure this out for weeks. When you type my site into the address bar on some machines my header/menu bar doesn't appear. If you type in the site with a .com/ it works. Any ideas? http://concreteutopia.com vs. http://concreteutopia.com/ I don't have this problem on my home machine, but at work and some friends' houses it happens. I've found that if you dump the cache during reload (shift while reload click) it usually clears itself up. Thanks for any input.

Check out the phpbb.com communities and do a search or two. There is a lot to wade through, but the answer is probably in there. I had the same (or very similar) problem. I fixed it but I don't remember all the steps right now. Try: setting the gallery folder permissions to chmod 777 (via cpanel or an ftp like smartftp) make sure you make a subdirectory for the public avatar files(images/avatars/gallery/subcatagory). Hope this helps
