I'm trying to generate backups on a remote server using SCP from cPanel. Is this supported or implemented by TCH? Thanks, Richard.

I've found similar behaviour without using TOAD. I can create procedures but cannot drop them except through phpMyAdmin. Is there any way to grant this privilege so I can drop tables through the MySQL command-line client "mysql"? Thanks, Richard.

Hmm. But there's still this huge /home/<USER_NAME>/mail/inbox file lying around. What do I do about this?

I'm going to try the "Download folder(s)" command to see if that does the trick. How do I restore folders saved in this way?

I recently received the following message in my Horde web e-mail inbox: The mailbox ********** is almost full. You should remove some emails from the box as soon as possible to prevent losing any future mail. This mailbox is currently 96.12% full. What exactly does this mean? Furthermore, is there any way I can download an archive of all my old mail before I start freeing up space? Thanks, Richard.

Is there any way I can access the data myself from a PHP or Perl script, for example? I would like to expose Horde's contacts and calendar data via a web interface for the purposes of collaboration across a team. Thanks, Richard.

Dear All, I've been using the Horde e-mail client (IMP) and the associated contact management features for a little while and I'm quite pleased with the functionality on offer. Unfortunately I'm confused! Clearly IMP creates a bunch of mail files under /home/<accountName>/mail but I can't figure out where all the other data is stored, such as the address book, calendar and memos etc. Can somebody tell me where these items are stored? I'm guessing that they're in a MySQL database somewhere. Thanks, Richard.

Help! Can't See Incoming E-mail In Horde

I've tried all these. I can successfully send mail from the Horde interface but I cannot read any incoming mail. Does anybody know where Horde saves its settings? -
Help! Can't See Incoming E-mail In Horde

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I've already tried that and it doesn't seem to work. Richard. -
Hello! I've been using the NeoMail web mail interface for a little while, but it seems to be very buggy and has a habit of trashing my messages whenever I try to move them into a new folder. Consequently, I've decided to try using a different web mail program such as Horde. Unfortunately, it doesn't want to read my inbox and I don't know how to configure it to pick up my mail. Does anybody have any experience configuring this interface? Thanks, Richard.

Dear All, Currently I own five domain names. I have "starter plan" hosting for two of these domains through TCH while the other three are currently parked with the default TCH "under construction" page. I would like these three to be hosted too eventually. Could somebody summarize the pros and cons of the following two approaches? 1. PURCHASE THREE MORE STARTER PLANS: Overall I would be paying 5 x $4.00 = $20.00 a month for this. 2. UPGRADE TO A SINGLE "SIMPLE" RESELLER PLAN: This is charged at $19.99 - about the same as option (1). It seems to me that the two solutions are practically identical apart from the following exceptions: 1. With five individual starter plans I would have 5 x 300 = 1.5 GB of hosting disc space versus the 550 MB that comes with the reseller package. 2. With five individual starter plans I am limited to no more than 5 "real" domains name whereas with the reseller package, I can add more in the future. Are there any other differences between these two solutions that I should be aware of? If these are the only two significant differences, then I guess the decision I have to make is based on the trade-off between disc space and unlimited domains? Thanks for your advice, Richard Cook.

Thanks for your help.

Alternatively, could you recommend a good, reliable provider who would provide such a service at a reasonable cost while allowing me to maintain my existing domain name registration with TCH? Thanks, Richard.
-
My domain name is fromthefall.com on Server40. Thanks, Richard.

That's why I was asking whether TCH had ever considered introducing a "one-page web site" hosting option to allow people who don't have a reseller account to park domains using a customizable web page. Thanks for your help, Richard.

Dear All, I sent off a whole bunch of e-mails using the PHP "mail" function in a script about twelve hours ago and none of the e-mails have been received by the recipients yet. What is the maximum delay you have experienced using this function? Is there any way to check the status of the mail queue to see which messages are still to be sent? I don't want to resend the e-mails and risk the recipients receiving duplicate copies and then accuse me of spamming them! Thanks, Richard.

Dear All, Has TCH considered introducing a "URL forwarding" service or at least some way to customize the default parked web page (check out my domain http://www.campinglaroseblanche.com/, for example)? Another way to achieve the same thing would be to provide a "single-page" web hosting service whereby the user could create their own page that would do the forwarding itself. I think that this is a service that would prove very popular. Obviously you could charge a reasonable amount for this - maybe $1 a month would be a reasonable amount I'm guessing. For example, I have two hosting accounts with TCH as well as two domain names registered with them plus two more on the way. I would like the new two domain names to point to a specific page within one of my other accounts without having to pay for a new hosting account. Many ISPs provide such a URL forwarding service or I could achieve the same goal by customizing the single page provided by the default parking option. Right now, to achieve this aim I have to have my other domains hosted elsewhere by a company that does provide this service: I would rather have all my domains together in my TCH account so I can administer them together. I have found that in general the TCH domain management interface is far superior to others I have used and that this is the only feature missing - with this feature I think TCH domain hosting would be almost perfect! Thanks, Richard. Rock Sign

Cool: Can you make the add-on domain point to a different page within your primary domain? If not, then how does an add-on domainthis differ from a parked domain?
-
OK, that's fair enough. Could you explain what an add-on domain is and how I use those? Can I make a domain name I have registered with TCH an add-on domain to my primary domain (also registered with TCH)? Thanks, Richard.
-
Cool. Is it possible to point a domain name (one I have registered through Total Choice Hosting) at a specific page on my primary domain? This is much like the holding or forwarding page that many ISPs provide. I'm sure that this must be possible but I'm not sure what the correct terminology for this is. Thanks, Richard.

Dear All, Can somebody explain to me in gory detail what a parked domain is? Thanks, Richard.

Replacing An Old Domain Name With A New One
OpiumTrail replied to OpiumTrail's topic in Open Discussion
Thanks for your reply! -
Dear All, First of all, please let me know if there is a better forum for my question... I recently purchased hosting for a full year and it all works perfectly. Unfortunately, for person reasons, I am going to have to register a new domain name to replace the old one and then abandon the old one. Can I do this with an existing TCH account? I haven't registered the new domain name yet - I'm still trying to figure out what it will be - but is this possible or do I need to buy a whole new account for the new name? If so, would it be possible to close the old account and transfer any remaining credit to the new one? I intend to keep the old domain name and just point it to a holding page elsewhere. Thank you very much for any help you can give me in this matter, Richard Cook.

This is the error page I am receiving: >Forbidden You don't have permission to access /Videos/ on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache/1.3.27 Server at killingfaith.opiumtrail.com Port 80 I am concerned about the line mentioning ErrorDocument. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks, Richard.

Hello all, I set up a custom error page (404.shtml) and all worked fine until I decided to remove it. Now whenever someone navigates to a nonexistent page I get a 404 error with a message saying that there was a problem with an ErrorDocument entry. How do I remove all references to custom error pages? Thanks, Richard.
