It sounds like you might enjoy learning HTML and CSS which is not hard. Then you can create web sites with a simple html editor like notetab.com has. It can be a lot of fun creating a site from scratch and see it develop while you learn new things.

I noticed the same thing in fact I think I said WOW! when I loaded a page with over 50 images on it and it loaded in 2 seconds. Of course using 8 processors and lots of ram may have something to do with it.

If the page does have an .html extension put this in your .htaccess flie to make it work without changing the extension. >AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html And search engines indexing won't matter.
