Okay I have a folder called gallery loaded with avatars I downloaded from internet. That folder is within the folder avatars. so I ftp them over to my Bb in this order: public_html/forum/images/avatars/gallery Is this the correct order? Do I need to do anything to them prior to loading them and do I need to do anything after loading them? I have authorized the use of them on the config page. Any help will be appreciated.

the board is located at http://www.cebyrdhigh.com/forum

THanks

Sorry, Jack. Apparently you gotta do something else. I just registered on your board and clicked to edit my profile. Tried to select av from gallery and the gallery list is empty.

So. Check the phpBB Documentation. Specifically check out section 3.2.2.5 Avatar Settings.

 Well I now have my avatars working. Figured out the problem. Here is the way I finally set them up.

/forum/images/avatars/gallery/ at this point I actually had to setup my gallaries which are animated, ava, and sports. Then when you goto the avatar section of editing the user profile it has all the ways to load your avatar listed and when you click on the gallery selectiion it then brings up in a selection box the individual galleries and you select which gallery you wnat to select your avatar from and gives a thumbnail picture with any animation if it is animated. You select the one you want and then click on save, it then shows the one you selected and you go from there.

I really appreciate everyones help. Jack

Oh, I see. So the /gallery directory is actually not supposed to have the images in it, but rather another directory /galleryname, then finally the images. ? Is that right? So the path to any image is actually:

/forum/images/avatars/gallery/galleryname/image.jpg

Man, that's nested pretty deep!

I guess you could call them directories. But it does allow you to setup your avatars by type such as I did, animation, regular avatars and sports. That is just the way I have mine broken apart. It really works good. Just took me 2 days to figure it out with help from all you people, which I really did appreciate. Now I am busy putting choices in there for my users. I guess you kind of figured out what my forum is used for. It is for my old high school that I graduated from over 50 years ago. So far the ones who have signed up seem to like it. Another one of those, it will take time to be sure of its acceptance. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the school colors in there, which ar light purple and gold. Again that will take time, but being retired I have plenty of that.

Oh just for some extra info on me. I have worked with computers, operating and programming since 1956, with the internet since its conception and before that true bulletin board systems when access to them on the phone was 300 BAUD. I have also installed Novell networks, so I have had my share of experience. I learned real early in the computer business that you can't get comfortable because it change every minute. The other and most important thing I learned in don't be stupid and not ask questions, because there is always someone out there who knows more than you do.

Enough rambling on and again my deepest thanks for all the help. Jack

Nice insight, Jack. Growing up I always heard, "The answer's always NO until you ask...then you have a 50/50 shot at getting what you want."

Nice resume, too! Welcome to your new home. Hope you like it here.

YAY, we rock!

Hey, Jack? On another note, your purple and gold phpBB style? I found a black and gold one and am in the process of modifying the style sheet...but take a look at the partial product and tell me if this is getting close?

***Edit***I'm having a lot of fun playing with this style sheet. It will probably look different everytime you check it out for a while!

That looks real close. Mine could stand to be maybe a shade lighter on the purple, so that the gold is more readable or maybe a brighter gold. It does look real good though. When you said black and gold it kind of scared me. Black and gold was our cross town rival back when I was in high school. There really isn't very much black there, not enough to bother me. Like I said all I would have to do would be to replace the current purple hex code with a lighter code. Thanks for thinking about that problem. I would ask one more thing of your and that would be to check with billing or sales and see if they got the emailabout upgrading my two sites to "silver" The sites are "jdcobbsr.com" and "cebyrdhigh.com" again thanks. That's funny that your rival was black and gold!

I've just been playing with it today trying to figure out all this css (style sheet) stuff. If you have a base template that you like well, then I can edit it to the colors you like and put that one up.

I'm going to change mine back to Cobalt now.

If I can get one pretty close, I'll send you the template files.

Anyway.

Oh and about the billing/upgrade. you should get an email in return when it has been done. If you don't have one by sometime tomorrow, let me know.

I like this one, the default one, if I could change the colors on it. I changed a couple once and I really messed it up, color wise. I got that quidditch one working but the purple on it was just too dark for my users and they are the ones I have to please. They are getting used to this one so it is no big deal. Jack
