seeded Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 is there a way to control the email in coming into my email accounts? more specific i would like to block certain emails and bounce them back to the senders. Is this possible to do in the email controls? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 Here are two good threads to read. Filtering Best Technique Anti-Spam software I would resist trying to bounce messages because generally the email address you are bouncing to is invalid (as in the case of Spam) Also, moving post tp proper forum. seeded Posted April 7, 2004 Author Posted April 7, 2004 can anyone answer my original question? Quote
DarqFlare Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 You only allowed 12 minutes after your post wondering if somebody would answer you... We're fast, but that's cutting it a bit short. All you need to do is go into your Spam Assassin, enable it, and add the email addresses you want to block to the blacklist. Also make sure to specify the "subject_tag" portion... To bounce it back, go into your Email Filtering, add in a filter that has the subject containing what you specified in the SA "subject_tag", and have the destination set to :fail: Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 (edited) For documentation on Spam Assassin look here. www.spamassisin.org Edited April 7, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
DarqFlare Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 (edited) I should add that I wasn't able to test my method, so it may not work... It should, in all theory. Also, enabling Spam Assassin may also block out other wanted emails, so if you absolutely only want those email addresses blocked, set your spam score to some insanely high number... TCH-Don Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 The only thing I can find is in cpanels filtering. You can setup a filter for that address, select any header that contains the address set to discard. Or for destination you can redirect to another address, maybe the same address as the sender But be sure it is a vaild address. This is only my opinion, not TCH Quote
DarqFlare Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 oh.. Don't even need the Spam Assassin workaround, I forgot all about the filtering by email... [smacks head] Quote
