I have a couple of parts to this.. I have downloaded a style or theme, Quidditch, from the internet, supposed to be okay for "phpbb". After downloading it I then unzipped it to its own folder, I then used my FTP, cuteFTP, to upload it to the "public_hmtl/my forum directory/templates. So far all is good, as far as I can tell. I then access my BB admin panel, click the install on the new style, which seems to work fine, no error messages. Then I go to the maint edit and click on editing the new style. When I then look at the edit screen for "Quidditch" only a couple of the lines have any hexidecimal color coding on them, whereas the default style has all but 2 or 3 lines coded. What have I done wrong? Did I leave out a step?

Next part of this. If I do, by some miricle, get the new theme working and want to replace the default, ugly one, with it, will I lose all the postings I have on the BB so far? That's it. Thanks Jack

First, before you try to edit the theme, I would suggest implementing it to see what really needs the edit. Go to your general config and select the theme and save the change.

Second, the theme is only an interface to the message data that is in the database. So, no, you will not lose the posts, users, etc. by switching to that theme.

I did as you suggested plus had to delete the original default theme, go to users maint and change the theme there. Now it works fine. Thanks a lot. The only thing I don't like about it and did not realize till now is that it does not show the title and description of my board. Title: C.E. BYRD HIGH SCHOOL of SHREVEPORT, LA Description line: A forum for past, present and future students of Byrd High School. Went back to Veleor's site and the demo does not show that either, so my fault. I will have to continue searching for a theme with the colors of purple and gold. Till I find what I want then I will use the "QUIDDITCH" one. Any suggestions as to where I could look. Again thanks a lot for all the help. Jack :)

I was born and raised in Shreveport and now am retired in the Hill Country of Texas outside San Antonio. I still have family in Shreveport too, but most of them you have to stand above them to visit them, if you know what I mean. I am trying to develope a message or forum board for my old, old, '52 high school. Had one another place but like a lot of internet sites they had to shutdown, so I am incorporating this one as part of a site I own. Few problems, but hopefully will get past them. Jack
