jackcobb Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 I have set the time on my board to be GMT -6 hours for CST. It worked fine for awhile, but no it is showing regular GMT. Why? the configuration page still shows GMT -6, but on the forum page it shows it is using GMT but no -6 is showing along side it. I have reloaded the config page to no avail. How can I fix the problem? The more I use this board software the less I am impressed by it. Thanks for any help. Quote
Lianna Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Jackcobb, A link to your phpbb would be helpful so that we may look at the issue. Thanks. Lianna Quote
KevinW Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Jacob, FWIW, several TCH users have downloaded and installed the Invision board software, which is also used for this forum. http://www.invisionboard.com/ -kw Quote
twowheels Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 I have set the time on my board to be GMT -6 hours for CST. It worked fine for awhile, but no it is showing regular GMT. Why? the configuration page still shows GMT -6, but on the forum page it shows it is using GMT I encountered the same problem on the forums that I set up the other day, where I'd set the time zone to GMT-8, but the front page still always said "All times are GMT". I assumed that maybe I'd misinterpreted the meaning of the config option, as it says: "System Timezone", which might actually be the time that the server's clock is set to, but if that were the case wouldn't the current time displayed in GMT then be wrong? twowheels Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Apparently I posted too soon... OK, I was right... the time zone in the General Admin-->Configuration control panel *IS* the server's timezone (which on Linux systems is usually GMT). Then, each user can update their own time zone preference in their user profile. I just changed the "System Timezone" back to GMT and my local timzone to GMT-8, and now everything displays correctly. -Rex Quote
