I have two domains hosted on TCH (TCH Rocks, BTW). One of them is on server43, the other on server44. I've noticed something interesting in the past few days. Spam delivered through server44 now has all the spamassassin checks and scores included in an X-Spam-Report header, while server43 continues to modify the actual message with the spam report.

Example from server44 in the headers:

Mime-Version: 1.0

Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii

X-Spam-Report:

* 0.5 XXX BODY: Information on getting larger xxx

* 0.3 HTML_FONT_BIG BODY: HTML has a big font

* 0.1 HTML_MESSAGE BODY: HTML included in message

Example from server43 in the body of the message:

Spam detection software, running on the system "server43.totalchoicehosting.com", has identified this incoming email as possible spam. [...]

Content analysis details: (11.2 points, 4.0 required)

pts rule name description

---- ---------------------- --------------------------------------------------

2.1 WHY_PAY_MORE BODY: Why Pay More?

0.8 BIZ_TLD URI: Contains a URL in the BIZ top-level domain

1.1 RCVD_IN_SORBS_SOCKS RBL: SORBS: sender is open SOCKS proxy server

[62.57.4.78 listed in dnsbl.sorbs.net]

Frankly, I like the server44 way of doing it (it makes reporting spam to their ISP MUCH easier) :)

Any chance of getting server43 upgraded/config'ed like server44?

A couple of those are configurable in your interface to SpamAssasin.

However, as far as I know, Spam Assasin is the same build version on all the servers.

I'm certainly not doubting your wisdom Glenn, but the changes I noticed in the way server44 spamassassin works happened after the changeover to the new machine. Up until that point, server43 and server44 behaved exactly the same (spamassassin modified the message instead of just the headers).

Any chance we could get a tutorial on spamassassin? The web-based interface is great, but doesn't make available all the configuration options.
