jdmatl Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 For those of us unlucky enough to have the upper ports that hord/imp uses blocked by firewalls, try going to: www.mail2web.com Used the Advanced section. Yeah, it isn't the hord/imp interface, but it is quick and supports Imap. I know other solutions are to have a "true" webmail account that runs on port 80 such as yahoo or hotmail "pull" it for you. Just wish TCH would run webmail on a true "web" port...80 maybe this SSL redirect solution mentioned in the forum will be a great work around once the details are posted. Quote
Larry Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 I must say mail2web works pretty darn good.. My job blocks just about everything though. anything but port 80, and anything related to webmail. (yahoo,hotmail,myrealbox.. you name it) (and to think im supposed to be supporting the internet for them) least my domain isnt blocked... yet. Quote
KevinW Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 just my opinions ... unfortunately, today's world is requiring us to more and more lock all the doors first, and then determine which doors need to be unlocked. Microsoft, for too many years (not to pick on them, but as an example) would release software with everything unlocked. but that is changing fast. just today, I had a lawyer get a new computer, and he calls me up and asks why he is not getting any attachments with his email! guess what? Microsoft know is enabling High Security in Outlook by default. there is a bright side to this whole issue -- if you, who has the responsibility to secure your company's network, cannot break it, then the average Joe or Sally inside the office won't be able to break, and it stands well that those on the outside will have a harder time breaking in. seems to me that whatever security features are required and demanded for your company or my company, should be equally expected for TCH. Just yesterday the head guru (thanks Bill) patched cPanel for all servers in order to address security issues recently identified. He was on top of it as soon as it was available. -kw Quote
