Blackcat Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 First of all, hallo everybody from Milan, Italy. I was the webmaster of a site with 3 important weblogs, and l recently had legal problems with my previous provider that suspended the service of hosting without informing anyone. Therefore l have been not able to prepare the export files from MT, but l luckily copied ALL the content of the server via ftp. Is it possible to recover archives with posts and comments from the db files? If yes, how? Thanks everybody for your cooperation Black Cat Quote
charle97 Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 if the db is mysql, you can create a new mysql db here and then restore the old db to the new one. Quote
schussat Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Ciao, Blackcat- Per charle97's comment, if you saved SQL databases from the old weblogs, importing them into a new installation of Movabletype shouldn't be too hard. The same goes, I think, if you were using the Berkeley DB system. In the latter case, I imagine it might be really easy, by just creating the Movabletype weblogs on the new host, specifying a database path that corresponds to the database directories that you saved, and then uploading each database directory to the server. Either way, it should be really doable -- but might take a bit of tinkering! -Alan Quote
Blackcat Posted March 8, 2004 Author Posted March 8, 2004 I was using Berkeley db, and l actually tried to copy the whole db directory to the new MT on the server l have on TCH. The problem is that, replacing the db directory (a raw cut and paste!), l couldn't even log in to the control panel neither with old nor new user and passwords.... I noticed that in all db files the url is specified, maybe it's necessary to replace it with the new one Thank you for your replies!!! Quote
