TCH-Thomas Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 As most of you know i have been changing domain names for 2 of my webhosting plans here at tch in the last week. I dont know how nameservers and things work but here is what the faq´s say: What DNS should my domain name point to?Your welcome e-mail will detail which of our DNS servers you should point your URL to. However, all virtual hosting accounts point to: NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM When i told my registrar to point these 2 domains to my tch servers i told them to point it to NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM and NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM which wasnt the whole thing i needed to do. I needed to point it to: NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (X are numbers) and NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX This i didnt know so i had to submit a helpdesk ticket for it which was taken care of very quick (Thanks Sujit, Mitch and Rick ) So now is my question/suggestion, can the helpsite/faq´s be updated with info that XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX needs to be added (generally or sometimes)? HCSuperStores Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 I can tell you from my experience that not all domain name registrars require the IP address. In fact, there's no place to put an IP address on mine. I personally think you ran into a registrar that just needed the extra info that most probably don't require anymore. IMO of course. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted March 3, 2004 Author Posted March 3, 2004 I know. I just think it would be worth to mention it if theres other newbies like me that wonders. Quote
