ScooterB Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 Since I may have many email accounts (sales, comments, help, etc), when on the road, signing in and checking each account is tiresome. Can I have a copy of each email sent to these accounts also sent as a copy to another email account (all_emails) which I can check? Then I'll know if I have something important to check on in the other accounts. Thanks! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 (edited) This is simple to do. Log into your cPanel and create a forwarder for each account you want to receive a copy. Just direct them to the account you want the copy in. This will send a copy to the forward address and also to the mailbox it was supposed to go to. If you want to eliminate the extra mailbox, just delete the account and add the forward. Welcome to the family, ScooterB! Edited February 24, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
ScooterB Posted February 24, 2004 Author Posted February 24, 2004 Excellent! Just what I wanted. I don't mind having the extra mail accounts for use in the office, and it's good to know that fowarding from an existing account is actually a copy. And that deleting the account makes it just a forward. Thanks! Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 Welcome to the family Scott and your new home. forwards are great, you can also use them for a contact page to send the visitors info to many departments. I set a contact page to send to an alias (non existent) address, then forward it to dept1 and dept2 and so forth. if you need anything, just ask your new family. Quote
vendlus Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Ok, related question. So I have a couple of guys who have addresses with our site, but I just forward their email to another account (like their yahoo accounts or whatever). Can I just delete their email accounts then and the mail server will still see the forward so they can get their mail (even though the mail address I'm forwarding from doesn't exist anymore)? Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Yes, in fact you should only have one or the other. so as long as the others you mentioned do not check their e-mail via web mail or e-mail client software for those addys, you only need a forward. Quote
vendlus Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Cool deal. Before they were using webmail, but now they have switched. I'll just make sure they have copies of what they need (from before they switched to forwarded email) before I delete their accounts. Thanks! Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 (edited) They can also still send with their addys from you via their ISP by making a copy of their ISP e-mail account and changing the e-mail address to the one you supplied. The easiest way is to export the current account, then modify it to reflect the addy from you, with a new discription like send as (addy from you) then import the original one back. Remove the include this account when receiving e-mail from the copy. But now it will be a choice as one of the addys to send as. They may have to change to port 26 under advanced>out going mail. vendlus Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Wow, uhm.. yeah... I'll be sure to read that in the morning when I'm not half asleep. I'm sure it'll make sense then. Thanks again. Quote
