evelynmary Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 I'm adding a java applet to my site on TCH but it won't run. (I can run it on my old freebie site on Tripod.)Do I have to do something with the jar or class files? Any help appreciated TY Emm Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Welcome to the family, Emm! The java applet should work fine as long as the .class files are put on the server and in the correct path. Quote
boxturt Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 I think they need to be uploaded in binary as well via an ftp program. As I recall, I had the same problem uploading the .class and .jar files via Cpanel. Quote
evelynmary Posted February 9, 2004 Author Posted February 9, 2004 I uploaded via ftp but didn't upload in binary. (used ascii ....oops )Will upload tonight TY for the reply Quote
evelynmary Posted February 15, 2004 Author Posted February 15, 2004 Ooooh---Hoooo!! Got it figured out!!! Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 I dont know if i made a setting in mistake but my ftp seems to "know" when to upload in binary or ascii, so i have never had to worry about it. Here´s the link if you want it: Ace ftp. Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 Glad you got it working Emm! In case anyone is wondering what they are talking about. Most ftp programs have three settings Binary, Ascii or Automatic. The automatic mode looks at the file extension to determine which mode to use. As in if it is a known image extension it will use binary, otherwise it will generally use ascii. The automatic mode is generally the best. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 Automatic I knew i made a mistake i wasnt aware of. Sorry everyone, but its a great program i use anyway. Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 (edited) Thomas, you made no mistake, you are just using the right mode Thumbs Up I haven't used Aceftp, but I hear good thing about it. I like CoreFTP lite, but I am sure there are many fine ftp programs out there. Edited February 15, 2004 by TCH-Don Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 I know i made no mistake. Just tried to joke around a little. But i never had to switch it over from/to either auto, binary or ascii so i figure auto is default and i have never had to change it. I just took a look in it, and yes there was a setting for it, i just didnt know it. Quote
evelynmary Posted February 17, 2004 Author Posted February 17, 2004 OH MY HECK!!! I never noticed the auto option in my FTP program before. I keep switching between Binary and ascii. Doh! woooot Mad!!! Wheres the hammer head smilie emoticon?:?? Quote
