Head Guru Posted February 9, 2003 Posted February 9, 2003 Anybody play with these things before? I hacked it out awhile back and coded linux to a CF card, now it wont boot. I am wondering if CF cards have a limited read/write life. Quote
KevinW Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 I had read where Linux could be loaded, but I don't have any experience. Sorry! kw Quote
KevinW Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 Do you have a docking station with the iPaq. If so, does it make a difference if you try booting it when docked in the docking station vs when it is undocked? Just a thought. -kw Quote
KevinW Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 Bill - any luck? Dummy me, I thought you were using a regular iPaq (thus the statement about the docking station). I was not aware that they made an Internet only iPaq workstation. Does it only go thru a telephone line to connect to the Internet, or can it somehow be connected to a hub or DSL.Cable router? -kw Quote
Head Guru Posted February 12, 2003 Author Posted February 12, 2003 KW, THis is the coolest thing since the computer. MY wife used to use it in the kitchen for keeping an address book and so on. I took it and now it a permanent fixture in my den. I hacked it out with linux and a cf card, turns of the CF card died. I throw a new cf card a loaded up linux and its working again. Quote
KevinW Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 Bill - how does it connect to the Internet -- dialup or ethernet or wireless? -kw Quote
