andypeat Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 I keep getting this message when setting-up my email software to look for mail: The server error encountered was: The server “mail.XXX.co.uk” can not be contacted on port 110. Does anyone know why? thanks. Andy Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 Not sure if this works, but try port 25. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 Thomas, 25 is outgoing and 110 is incoming Andy, Has that domain propagated? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 Ah ok. Well, I learn something from my TCH-family everyday. Quote
andypeat Posted February 6, 2004 Author Posted February 6, 2004 I think it has propogated, although I do remember that the demon servers were very slow to update. I will leave it while, thanks. Andy Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 To test before propagation enter the IP address from your welcome email for the POP3 and SMTP servers. Quote
andypeat Posted February 6, 2004 Author Posted February 6, 2004 You're right, If I enter the IP address I get told the user name and password is wrong, but if I try the domain name it cant contact the server. I guess this shows that they haven't updated yet. Thanks for this tip. andy Quote
