KevinW Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 For some time now, I have been using a free program called AdShield to block browser popups. It only works with Internet Explorer, and is essentially a browser add-in, meaning you don't have to remember to start it. Go to: http://www.adshield.org If you do use it, by default the software comes with a blank list of sites to block. One of the Microsoft MVP's has put together a zipped file of a block list that you can import and load into AdShield. Go to: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/block.zip HTH, kw Quote
seancb Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 my favorite is webwasher, free for personal use: www.webwasher.com it blocks banners and popups.. and saves you bandwidth by removing your browser's request for the image rather then simply hindering the image's display. Quote
KevinW Posted February 25, 2003 Author Posted February 25, 2003 Thanks for the info. There is always more than one solution to the problem - and spam and pop up windows are two BIG problems! -kw Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 I like Free Surfer FS is pure freeware, NOT spyware. because you don't have to add rules unless you want. As is, it blocks most pop ups, but you can add a pop up to the list as www.domain.com/adclick and it will block all from that part of a domain. Quote
