Hi!

I just signed up a week ago and I've been uploading all my files. My site is http://thegeekstore.net and it's still not finished yet. Anyway, my question is... I'd like to get rid of the shopping cart PayPal provides me coz having a new window pop up everytime a person adds an item to the cart is just really annoying. Also, I'd like to have a cart that can automatically calculate postage by weight and also calculate the paypal fee. Also, I'd like to keep the design as it is on my site. Is this possible with osCommerce?

Something you should know is that I only have experience with html and css. I know nothing of php or mysql. please give me suggestions as to where I can understand learn.

Another question I have is if there's a code where I can have a 'sign up' form for my mailing list... Is there? Perhaps something that would just send me an email notifying me this person wants to sign up or just something that would subscribe them automatically?

I have many more questions... but lets just start with these two.

Thank you so much! TCH is fantabulous!

Well osCommerce can calculate postage by weight no problem. I am not sure if it can adjust for PayPal fees, I would look at their contributions to see about that. It will also allow your users to chose to be on your mailing list when they sign up.

Don't worry too much, I didn't know what PHP stood for let alone how to use it. Still have a long way to go but I got my site running pretty quickly with osCommerce.

Hi thegeekstore

osCommerce can do pretty much whatever you need it to do. It's not that difficult to customize once you can in it and start playing around. The forums at oscommerce offer help on just about everything and there are hundreds of user contributions that you can download and add to your store.

hi

thanks for responding!

i've installed osCommerce on my site, it's been a few days now. modifying the pages don't seem to be too hard, but i've come across some things that i can't seem to figure out.

one main example is ...

adding new fields (i've added them from phpmyadmin into the osc database, but i need to have it work with osc and show up in products listing, new products, and products info pages aswell as the admin)

i've found contributions for this on the osc site, but they don't work or i'm just stupid and messed it up. please help!

i'm trying to have osc set up for my mailorder record store so i need two new fields for artist name and format both of which would just be plain text. please help!

:) as always i'm panicing ... - aasha

ps. here's an idea of what i'd like to have.. http://217.22.62.40/bruno/Scripts/prodlist...?idCategory=125

this is what i have achieved on my site so far..
