well I change the permission settings on my avatars folder to "755" from "550" like stated on following:

To Allow Users to Use More Avatars, in Invision Power Board

----------------------------------------------------------------------

newer forum 1.1.2

goto forum/html/avatars/

change permissions of folder to 755

now upload your avatars to the folder.

now when your user selects edit avatar settings in their CP

and selects Pre-installed avatars,

they will see all the uploaded avatars in all the folders you created.

And I thought those were the steps to add an avatar gallery displaying all of them, but I guess not. And now I can't even see any of the avatar file names on the list. I keep getting these warning errors:

Warning: opendir(/home/jscfanc/public_html/forums/html/avatars): failed to open dir: Permission denied in /home/jscfanc/public_html/forums/sources/Usercp.php on line 1134

Warning: readdir(): supplied argument is not a valid Directory resource in /home/jscfanc/public_html/forums/sources/Usercp.php on line 1135

Warning: closedir(): supplied argument is not a valid Directory resource in /home/jscfanc/public_html/forums/sources/Usercp.php on line 1142

I tried changing the avatars folder permission back to "550" and it's still not working. Please help...

Are you changing the permissions with cpanels file manager?

sometimes it does not change the permissions for keeps.

It is best to use an ftp program.

The error message looks like your forum can't see the avatar folder.

The avatar folder needs to be 755.
