Is anyone using FP 2000 successfully publishing to their www directory as:

http:****/www ?

I have been unable to do so, my domain has propigated so that is not the problem.

Whenever I try I get an error message that the FP extentions are not installed. I get the same error message with my page options set to custom, apache, and IIS compatablity.

I can publish to ftp://****/www but this deactivates access to some of the FP funtionality.

If your domain has propagated then you should be able to publish to http://www.******. Try doing that instead of using http://******/www. The /www part is for use with ftp since with ftp you can get below the web root directory.

Jay,

The head guru posted something in the last couple of days that there is a bug in FP2000 that has been corrected in FP2002 that deals with 'how' one publishes. Maybe you can search these forums to find his post. If I find it, I will post back.

OK ... I found it. Here is Bill's (head guru) response:

Here is the problem folks.

You can not publish to HTTP and a IP address in Frontpage 2000 or back.

It will only publish to FTP.

Once your domain name resolves and is fully propagated it will upload just dandy.

This bug was corrected in FP 2002 but persists in FP 2000 and earlier.

Simply put, you have to FTP until your domain propagates.

thanks
