Guest schussat Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 I'm headed on the road for the holidays, so I won't be using my normal desktop POP client for a while, and I imagine my inboxes will get nicely loaded up with junk while I'm gone. So, I've used cpanel to enable spambox, hoping it will filter the crud out of my way and make using webmail (on dialup, sigh; broadband has spoiled me rotten) easier -- is using spambox really as easy as that? A couple of questions about using spambox: When it's enabled, I assume it works for all of the email accounts I have set up. Correct? (Doesn't look like there's any per-account enabling of it, so I assume this is the case...) And second, what happens to all the spam email when I get back home in ten days and disable the spambox? Does it get discarded, or dumped back into my inbox, or what? Thanks, and happy holidays, everybody- -Alan Quote
Lianna Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 (edited) From the cPanel SpamAssassin page: Enabling the Spam Box feature will cause all mail marked by Spam Assassin as spam to be delivered to a separate mail box called 'spam'. You must use IMAP or Horde/IMP to check messages that are routed to this box. I'm going to guess here...since the mail is being physically moved into a folder called 'spam', then that mail would remain on the server in the 'spam' folder until deleted/moved via Horde or IMAP client. So, by turning Spambox off, you will not receive those e-mails back into your inbox, nor would they then download to your pc client. Hope that helps. PS - Also, if those mails remain in the 'spam' folder on the server, they are taking up your valuable web space...go purge them through Horde to keep things clean. (I'll also be sure to keep an eye on the space used by the spam folder, and purge it if necessary.) -Alan Quote
