Connecting To Chat With Irc

have been playing around with the different chat room options under the cgi scripts on cpanel and i'm curious if there's a way to connect to one of them using an IRC client. the html one looks like the best candidate but i couldnt get it to connect using the port that's used when connecting with explorer. any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand, are you wanting to connect to an IRC server using the HTML chat provided in cpanel? Or are you wanting to connect to the HTML chat using a standalone IRC client?

I also want to point out you CANT run an IRC server on your hosting plan. The script I posted connects to an external IRC server.

Ok, yeah, I was trying to get a room going that I could have available on my site and be able to monitor myself with irc. the url that the html client under cgi scripts uses looked promising to be able to connect with an irc client but couldnt make it work. Have been playing around with pjirc a bit and not sure if i like it or not..will have to play some more...

you have to register a channel on a irc server then have the chat script on your site connect to it. then you can monitor that channel with a bot. it wont work the other way around that i know of.
