TCH-Dick Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 E-Trust has Teamed up with Microsoft to provide free firewalls and anti virus programs to Windows users. I downloaded the software just to see if it was worth the time and effort, This is a full retail software package and they send you the CD key to register the software, the firewall is identical to zone alarm, even looks the same. If you dont have a firewall and anti virus now you dont have an excuse to not use one http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/ Quote
borfast Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 The anti-virus is pretty good, it updates its virus definitions almost every day, sometimes more than once a day. When I still used Windows, I started using EZ-Trust Anti-Virus when McAfee became a resource hog (I miss the good old McAfee DOS times ) and I liked it very much. It ran smoothly on the background and had a very small footprint on your system's memory. As for the firewall, I don't like it very much when compared to ZoneAlarm because it lacks the ability ZA has to allow/disallow programs to access the internet or local networks. Still, if you don't need that kind of funtionality, it's a pretty good firewall. Quote

borfast Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Didn't know about that. Guess I tried an older version. Well, in that case, forget what I said about the firewall and get it. Get both the firewall and the anti-virus. They're both very very nice products, especially being free Quote
