Soni Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 I installed my phpBB forums and everything seems to work okay excelt for ONE THING. I can't, for some reason, upload avatars. Everytime, I get an error message. For that matter, I can't set up an avatar gallery either. Does someone know how to do that? Thanks so much, ~Soni (in case you care, my forum is at http://www.cherry-bomb.net/forum... maybe one of you can figure out what I'm doing wrong??) Quote
TCH-Don Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Hi Soni, welcome! from www.phpbbhacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20063 I found permissions on the images/avatars/ directory need to be set to 777. And In the admin panel Configuration, is one of the avatar settings /images/avatars? Try deleting the / at the start. hope this helps. Not familar with phpBB Quote

Try deleting the / at the start. I'm having the same problem. The server however does not seem to be letting me change the permissions on the avatar folder (I'm trying to change the permissions through file manager). As for your question about avatar gallaries, Soni: I believe all you do is put a bunch of image .gifs inside the designated folder that you picked in your general preferences. I havn't actually done this, but that seems like what you would do. Users should then be able to pick form a bunch of avatars you supply instead of uploading their own. Quote
borfast Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Change the permissions with an FTP client. Some CPanels have problems with changing the permissions via the file manager. Hope it helps. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 I worked on this for hours on end before i ever got mine to work (it doesnt work "straight out of the box") Avatar Storage Path = images/avatars Avatar Gallery Path = images/avatars/gallery (you will probably need to create the gallery folder) change the permissions via an ftp program like Raul suggested, file manager is kind of flaky for changing permissions. Ok, changed the permissions, and everything is working fine now! Soni: The only thing I had to change was the permissions, so if you changed much else, you may have to change it back. I hope you got your's working too. Quote
