!!blue Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 Hi all, Just wanted to know what some of you thought of the whole WHOIS/privacy issues. The issue is that anyone (from friend to foe) can find out your personal info, such as address & phone numbers, by doing a WHOIS search of your domain. I don't like this idea and wrote an email to network solutions (from whom I purchased my domain name) and asked if this info could be private or hidden from view. Does anyone have any thoughts on this issue? Am I being paranoid ? What are some ideas that you can share? Here's a link I found while researching this topic (google: whois "privacy"): WHOIS & Privacy later, !!blue Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 Can´t we find that out in one of the many white pages-sites on the net too? I dont think we should worry too much about those things. Those who wanna know things about a person will find it out anyway. Am I right or wrong? -Thomas Quote
Wilexa Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 I choose private domain registration (from DomainsByProxy) for all my domains for just such a reason. If you check the whois for wilexa.com you won't find any of my personal info (I hope). If you take a systematic and consistent approach to privacy on the web, it can make it very difficult (but not impossible these day, I 'm afraid) for the "average joe" to find your personal details. Just my 2 cents, Dave Quote
