Safe To Delete Files In Tmp Directory?

I am about to reach my capacity for my plan and was looking to see what was taking up the most space on my site. I noticed there is a tmp directory with several subdirectories and a number of files within each of them. A couple of subdirectories are taking up a lot of space. I was wondering if it is safe to delete these files?

Certain cPanel programs write into the tmp folder. AwStats for one. If you are not concerned with the stats you can remove the contents of the folder (not the folder itself). Not sure if the others are safe to delete or not but the techs would know.
