Password Directories In My Cpanel Dont Work

i am trying to password protect a folder but when i click password directorys in my cpanel area under security, i get this

and dont know why? can someone tell me?

I used to use this but now it wont work.

You can use Frontpage directly to create password protected directories just like you normally can here. Alternatively, you can disable frontpage extensions and still use Frontpage to publish the site design via Webdav or FTP.

Are you using Frontpage?

 

If you are not using Frontpage, you can disable these extensions through cpanel as the message says and it should work.

 

If you do use Frontpage, I will have to let someone else answer how to password protect through Frontpage and cpanel.

no, i always use ftp to upload all my files and stuff. i only use frontpage to design my stuff or i user dreamweaver cs3 but i never use them to upload to the server

Then it should be safe to turn off the FrontPage extensions.

In cPanel, go to the bottom of the page. Click on Front Page Extensions in the Advanced section. Then select to remove them.
