sheryltoo Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 It seems as if all of a sudden people can't upload attachments to a message in my smf forum or add an avatar to their profile from a file on their computer. They get an error saying: The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved. I didn't make any changes to the settings so I'm not sure why all of a sudden there's a problem. In searching the smf site, I found some messages saying this had something to do with the host site so I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I have the permissions set to 755. Someone suggested I change it to 777 but I thought that was dangerous. Sheryl Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I can be wrong on this but I believe that 777 is the permission an upload folder has to have. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Not safe, but nothing you can do anything about. Quote
sheryltoo Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Thanks for letting me know. I may disable the option to upload files but for the time being, I changed the permission to 777 and it seems to be working. Sheryl Quote
