We will be moving in to a friend's home and house-sitting for a month while waiting to move into our new home. We want to have our desktop computer with us during that month and not in storage. Our friend assures us "it's okay to use our computer." We don't want to do this. We'd like to hook up our own computer there.

Now the question:- What's the best way to do this to avoid messing any of their settings up? I'm just not sure. I just don't want to start yanking out cords until I get some direction from you.

Kindest regards,

Do they have a router? If not, get one it's the simplest way to do it. The router goes between the modem and their computer. You would then be able to plug your computer into the router as well.
