paco Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 (edited) Hi, I have a dedicated server in other hosting (and two shared with TCH), and in the last times, support is no good, and I'm thinking about dedicated server with TCH. But I have doubts. At this moment, my statistics are, more or less (month): 75Gb 400.000 visits 200.000 clients 1.000.000 access Database very big (phpbb with 400.000 messages) The main server load is a phpbb 3 forum, with between 35 to 50 users online. Since we migrated from phpbb2 to phpbb3, every 10 days, the database fails, with this message: Too many connections [1040] , and the service has to be restarted. The current hosting provider does not give us a solution for this. I have not any problem installating scripts, or managing cpanel or similar, but I don't have the ability to configure a server for myself, in a secure way. The best option for me, could be Semi-Dedicate Fully Managed, but is suitable for my needs? (I don't want to hire a plan, and then, TCH say me that it's not appropiate) Perhaps I could pay an dedicated unmanaged server, but I don't know if with unmanaged could something became obsolete, and hackers or similar do spamming with my server. Thanks for your help Edited June 12, 2008 by paco Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Pretty heavy site. Might want to open a ticket with the help desk and get an opinion from the techs. They can steer you in the right direction. Quote
flashram Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I use to be using a reseller account and took over a photography website, so I decided then to move to my own dedicated server. I picked the unmanaged one, but TCH are helpful and where I have had an issue that has been resolved fully and in a speedy time. If you want to ensure that there are no hassles at all, then get the fully managed one, it would be well worth the extra $$'s then you don't have to worry as it is looked after for you. I have at times upward of 500 people on the site at any one time, and there have been very few issues, certainly none when it comes to the machine I am using. Does everything and more that I currently need. Traffic for the month is on average over 40000meg and with the level I have, that is a drop in the bucket. I would have and don't have any hesitation with recommending TCH to anyone after being with them now I think coming up for around 6 yrs. They are very friendly, approachable and helpful to their clients and go out of their way to assist if and where they can to resolve issues, often nothing to do with TCH at all. Quote
