mike Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Hi folks, I put a java chat room on my site, just for private friends to use, and it seems to work fine for all who tried it except one friend on the east coast. I spent a couple hours or so with him on the phone. We downloaded all the java, but he cannot even get the sign in window via internet explorer OR opera. Is there something else in his xp home system that is stopping this? Anyone have experience with this sort of problem? the java script is from chatfiles.com, ( I am trying it out ), but it seems to work fine for everyone except this one friend. thanks for any help Quote
Madmanmcp Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Is he using a firewall? This maybe blocking the port or program. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Check the browser settings to be sure he an run Java and Javascript. Quote
mike Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 I even sent him to a website that checks java and it said his was working. I am a bit stumped. Everyone else I have sent to the chat room gets there fine. But this one guy doesn't even get the sign in window Quote
Madmanmcp Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Sounds like a firewall issue Mike, the app or the port being used is blocked. Turn the windows fiewall off and try. Quote
