It's cleanup time! I have been using TCH since 2004 and my account has become very messy w/ old folders, files and e-mails. My account was hacked into a while back and a lot of programs were uploaded and downloaded and TCH found them and suspended my account. I want to make sure I have deleted all the files but I'm not sure what files I need for my account and what ones are hacks?

I have done a full backup to make sure I don't lose anything and I always do one right before I make any changes.

How is the best way to archive all my emails and email accounts, so I can view them in the future if needed? I tried to read my email w/ Outlook and Outlook express but I could only see my inbox and not any of my subfolders. I still have a folder in my account called .neomail that has .db files in it but I'm not sure if I need them or if there is a way to still read them.

What folders do I need to keep in my account, so my websites, subdomains and email accounts don't get deleted?

Please help and I hope I have provided enough info and posted in the correct Forum.

Thanks,

Lou

Welcome to the forums Lou ^_^

Best thing to do is open a ticket with the help desk and they can help you out.

Your web site and all the subdomains are stored in the public_html folder.

Your mail folders are in the root of your domain in a folder called mail.

You could move mail from your other folders into your inbox and then retrieve them with an email client.

Bruce,

Thanks for the reply. In one of my Webmail accounts I have over 26 folders, one for every letter in the alphabet, so would I have to move all the emails from each folder to the inbox, open them in Outlook and then move them back to the original folder to keep everything organized?

Thanks,

Lou

Anther thing you can try, I do not know if this will work or not but it's worth a shot.

Install a copy of Thunderbird on your computer and set it up for IMAP and have it download all your folders. From there you may be able to copy the emails to another folder or set of folders on your hard drive.

If all you are concerned with is having a backup archive, just do a full backup from cPanel and download that to your machine. That will backup all your mail folders which can be restored to the server.

I pop my mail and don't use the webmail features unless I am traveling so I'm only guessing here.

Otherwise, what you say above is correct. Move them, download them, move them back.
