Is there a way to get them back?

Under the history tag it shows sites I visited today, but I lost my bookmarks.

They would've worked but for some reason I don't have the file locations they speak of. Looks like I'll have to start over and export my links every so often.

Not sure what OS you are using but mine are located in this path on Windows XP

>C:\Documents and Settings\{my user login}\Application Data\
Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\{my profile}\bookmarkbackups

I'm using XP. I don't have the directory C:\Documents and Settings\{my user login}\Application Data\

Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\{my profile}\bookmarkbackups.

I do have C:\Program Files\Mozzila Firefox\ .... But it doesn't have a \bookmarkbackups\ folder.

Not sure about your Firefox installation but your profile should be in the Documents and Settings structure.

That's how Firefox is able to be deleted from your machine and reinstalled and not lose the profile information. It's also how you can grab a copy of Portable Firefox and put it on a USB drive and act the same as your desktop broswer by copying the profile folder to the USB drive.

My profile is in the Docs & Settings...

But I don't have a Application Data folder in it.

Oh well...

I just copied the bookmarks from my desktop over to my laptop (the one that lost the bookmarks). They aren't the same but it's a start.

Thanks for all the help!

You guys are the best!

You are not seeing the Application Data folder because Microsoft hides system directories and files by default.

Open your profile directory

Then go to Tools>Folder Options

Select the View tab

Check Show hidden files and folders

Click Apply then OK

If your Mozilla folder is located in your program folders then this will be the path to the bookmarks. Or at least it is in mine.

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile

Dick is right. Most people don't even FIND documents and settings folder because you have to be able to view hidden files.
