Question About Email In Cpanel

hiya ive been revieing the video tuts and reg web tuts on setting up my email on my cpanel, if i set it up how do i get my email, do i need outlook or can i use a web based website to login to to retrieve my email?

You can use Webmail or Squirrel mail if you don´t want to use Outlook or similar:

 

Please try;

 

your_tch_domain.com/webmail

 

or

 

your_tch_domain.com/sqmail

What I mean is, yes, you can use webmail instead of Outlook or something similar. There are currently 2 interfaces available on the TCH-servers, Horde, Squirrel mail and a (sort of) combined interface for these two.

 

The Horde interface I think you can only access at: your_tch_domain.com/webmail (which is also the URL to the combined interface mentioned above).

 

Squirrel mail you can access at: your_tch_domain.com/sqmail

ok so when i set it up, 1 where do i go to check my email? what would be the website address for me to get my email? 2 if i used a email thing such as incredimail or something like it to get my email how would i?

The incredimail question someone else will have to answer since I have never used it.

 

The above urls are where you would check your mail if using webmail, providing you have set up email addresses in your cpanels Mail section > Email accounts.

If not, there is a great flash tutorial in Email accounts section on how to set up the addresses.

I will assume incredimail is like any other email client.

 

You would set it up to access your POP email address.

 

You will need to enter your email address, your incoming mail server for POP (mail.yourdomain.ext), your outgoing mail server for SMTP (mail.yourdomain.ext) and you will have to tell it to authenticate you so you can retreive or send email. You do that by telling it to login using the email address you create and password that you set for the account.

 

Depending on your ISP you may have to tell the mail program to use port 26 for outgoing mail instead of 25.

yes ur right but if i didnt use that how else would i get my email? im sorry ive just never had email from a hosting thing before and im thinkking of setting the one u give me in my hosting up...

Thomas has already told you how to access your email via a web broswer.

 

Launch your broswer and enter the address of http://your-domain.ext/webmail. You will be prompted to login. Enter the email address you created in cPanel along with the password you set for the email address.

 

Then select either Horder or SquirrelMail to read your mail.
