Favicon In Wordpress

I have a new domain used for a blog in wordpress. What file to I put my favicon.ico in? Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the quick reply! Don't I put it in some index file also? That is the part I can't figure out and it is not showing up anywhere...it is in my public html file already.

No, just put it in the public_html folder. Some browsers don't always display it. You can check with Firefox and you should see it.

Hi everyone! I am setting up Wordpress at a blog.pugmania.com subdomain on our site. I have the favicon in the right place for it to work with the main www page (/public_html), but it doesn't show up on the blog.pugmania.com Wordpress page. I have added a copy of favicon to the blog subdomain directory (/public_html/blog) but no luck. Do I need to add the favicon html code to my page templates, modify my style sheets, or something?

 

Everything else is going great so far using the TCH tutorials.

I marked the blog as a favorite in IE and a bookmark in FireFox

and I see the favicon in both when I go back to the favorite or bookmark.

I can see the favicon too but when I go to blog.pugmania.com I get to a (sort of) error page saying

Not Found

Thanks Mike, that answer helps me also, I kept seeing my favicon.ico showing up in the error report, thought maybe I had to use an absolute url.

I'm also having favicon issues with my wordpress site. I put the file in my public_html folder, but it still doesn't show in either IE or FF.

It it´s the blog I see when I click on the link in your signature, the favicon shows up fine for me.

Have you tried to clear your cache?

Yes I have tried clearing my cache, which didn't seem to make a difference.

 

But if you can see it, that means the issue must lie somewhere with my computer, does anyone else have problems seeing it? Or is it just mine?

Just to make sure so you don´t mean that you have another favicon that is not showing up.

Is it the attached favicon screenshot you mean?

Yeah, that's the favicon i'm trying to view. But on my computer, it still shows the IE's logo in it's place. It must have something to do with my computer's settings. If everyone else can see it though, then it's probably not a big deal.

If you have your site bookmarked, you could try to delete the bookmark and re add it and see if that helps. I have heard that favicons can show wrong etc if the site is bookmarked with the wrong favicon.

Thanks for the bookmarking tip, but still didn't show up on my computer. It doesn't make sense, because all other sites' favicons show up in tabs, bookmarks, etc.

I can see both sites favicons with no problems myself. Using Firefox Pugtracks I can see In IE also But I cannot see the favicon for toptenlisted using IE. You might want to try putting the favicon code into your main page's code.
