I have noticed for a while that when I close or save a Word document, there is a lot of network activity. This happens even when it is stored on my local drives. It can take upwards of 10 seconds to close. However if I disconnect from the network it closes almost instantly.

It makes me wonder if a copy is being sent to "The Man". But that is not likely as I have exclusive access to my machine.

Any thoughts??

Hmmm, not sure but check to see if you have any network shares that no longer exist.

Open Windows Explorer and under MY Computer see if there are any Network Shares (drives from other computers) listed. Right-click on them and select DISCONNECT from the popup window. See if this corrects the slowdown.
