Hi, i'm really new to this. I'm trying to start a website where friends can register and log in and share their graphics designs..but i have no clue where to start from as in creating the script for them to register and be able to log in. i want to know this before i make the option on my site to register..

Depending on what you want exactly you want to do, there are many good options. If you want users to mainly post and share images, then the Gallery or Coppermine scripts (which you can install via Fantastico in your Control Panel) may be the way to go.

 

If you want some kind of forum, you could install SMF.

 

Both of these allow you to manage users through some kind of registration process.

 

The nice thing with installing via Fantastico is that you can install it, try it out, and see if it's what you like. If it doesn't suit your needs, it is just as easy to uninstall. If you describe a little more what you would like your site to be like, I imagine other users here will have their own recommendations.

thanks for the help. Basically so my friends can log in and upload their images. i dont have to mess with MySQL?

The forum like SMF in your fantastico

set to let registered member attach or upload images

would let friends post text and images.

 

Its easy to let fantastico install it

and it will create the database for you.

 

And then see if it will do what you want.

Be sure to visit the admin part and set member registration to be approved

and allow members to attach images.

 

In admin > members > permissions

look for Attachments and allow post and view attachments.
