Mae Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I apologize in advance if I put this in the wrong forum. Here are my questions: 1. I created a PDF file w/an online free service. They emailed it to me. I saved it to my computer, imported it to Frontpage, created a link and uploaded it, but it won't open online. What could I be doing wrong? 2. Is there a way to save PDF files on my website as ebooks, and then provide private url links to it when I sell the books? 3. Is there a way to set up a cart and auto email to sell my ebooks? Thanks. sirius Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 3. Is there a way to set up a cart and auto email to sell my ebooks? I would also be interested in the answer to this question. I have a client who would like to sell clipart online so that the purchaser can pay for an image and then be able to download a copy. Chuck Quote

If you don't have a PDF plugin for the browser you use the file will download and not be displayed in a browser window. 2. Is there a way to save PDF files on my website as ebooks, and then provide private url links to it when I sell the books? You can FTP any file including a PDF file to your web space and provide links to download them. To keep them private put them in a folder not linked to from any pages on your web site. You can also password protect the folder you place them into as long as you provide the password with the link to download it. 3. Is there a way to set up a cart and auto email to sell my ebooks? I would set up an account with eSellerate or set up a PayPal shopping cart that would send link automatically to the files to be downloaded when purchased. Quote
Mae Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 I have the most current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Is that different from a PDF plugin? How do I look to see if I have this, and how do I get it if I don't? I'm contemplating purchasing a PDF creator software package off ebay. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Check this link to see if you can solve your problem. I don't open PDF files in the browser as it was not intended for PDF files. I download them and open them locally with either Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader. Quote
Mae Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 I can open the PDF file on my computer in my browser. I can't open the PDF file from my website. Is it possible that there is something that needs to be tweaked in my cpanel? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Do you have a link? I am not sure if you are getting an error or what problem you are actually having. Quote
