Guest 1Q Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I will be purchasing a hosting plan at Total Choice Hosting because my current host is driving me crazy with short downtimes. When i transfer from my current host i want to do it with as little downtime as possible. My current billing period ends on December 24, I want to Wait as long as i can before i transfer. When should i purchase a plan here and how should i go about it so my site is down as little has possible? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 If your current host uses cpanel, you could submit a ticket to our techs after the purchase of the hosting and ask them to try a cpanel to cpanel transfer. This would make the transfer of your site smooth and fast. The thing that would take the longest time I think, is the propagation of the domain which could take up to 72 hours (but usually faster). Guest 1Q Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 My current host uses HSphere so i don't have that option. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 My personal view .....I'd do it now - and copy my site across now - so that I could test it before changing the DNS over. The cost of one months hosting is nothing compared to the piece of mind of knowing my site is working on the new server, and I only have to change over the DNS for it to be live. Quote
