abinidi Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Hey everybody. Hope those of you who had Thanksgiving this week had a great one. My server, 40, had a bad day on Wednesday, and now I'm missing a post I made Wednesday evening. I opened a ticket and they said they can't help me. However, my post got pinged by Technorati, and they have the post on their site. I can search by terms in the post, and the sentence containing the term is shown. So I know Technorati has the full-text of my post. I just can't figure out how to make Technorati show the full text. Does anybody know how I can get Technorati to show me the full text of the post from their cache? I'm really sad to have lost the post I made. Thanks. Quote
abinidi Posted November 24, 2006 Author Posted November 24, 2006 Of course, after I ask the question, I find the answer. I'll include it for those of you who might be interested in the future. I logged in to Technorati, and looked at my blog. I could see the tags I used most recently. I clicked on the tag that was the category of my post (I use WordPress). The post was shown. I could then click the "show details" link. The full text was shown in a pop-up window. Anyway, I got the full-text of the post. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I'm glad you got it sorted To help you in the future, I'd suggest you have a look at the Backup FAQ and set up an automatic daily backup of your mysql - that way you will always have a copy. (apart from the short time of any posts of course made on the day, but before the backup time) Quote

(apart from the short time of any posts of course made on the day, but before the backup time) Thanks, Andy. I do backup my blog daily. But I back it up on my server. I need to figure out an off-server backup procedure, because backing it up on the server doesn't do any good when the server has trouble. (My current server-backup plan is designed to keep a backup in case the database gets corrupted.) Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 The dbsender option in the thread Andy links to, sends the backup to any email address you tell it. Personally I use a gmail address and it works perfectly. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Yep, dbsender is the method I use and recommend too! Quote
