When you back up yoru database do you just connect to ftp and download everything. That will save the fantastico stuff your created also right?

You cannot download databases by ftp

 

You can go to cpanel > backup

and click on the name of the database to download a compressed file

 

later if you need to restore that copy,

go to cpanel > backup > upload database, browse to the file you downloaded

and it is restored.

 

While you are in cpanel > backup

you can download the home directory backup

this is a compressed file that has ALL of your web site files

That file can be opened by a zip file manager to pull out separate files

or in cpanel > backup you can restore that file in the place (upload home directory)
