SEO Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Bill... my two cents. Well first things first: ><AREA SHAPE=RECT ALT="" COORDS="154,605,160,611" HREF="http://www.totalchoicehosting.com" target="_blank"> to ><AREA SHAPE=RECT ALT="web hosting by total choice web hosting" COORDS="154,605,160,611" HREF="http://www.totalchoicehosting.com" target="_blank"> Also, please add a 'real' text link at least on your links page. Now on to my two cents: 1. Speaking of links... do not ask people to link to your site via a banner. Use Text Links (e.g. Model and Photographer portfolios online!) 2. Move your <title> tag just below your <head> tag. 3. Your title is too long. 4. Put Alt tags on all images. 5. Instead of this: on-site Links: information on photography, photography forum, photography chat, Model Forum, Model Chat, photographer portfolio hosting, Model Portfolio Hosting,Model Zed Comp Cards, Business Cards, Headshots, free galleries, portfolios glamour, glamour photography, picture gallery, fine art photography, glamour photographers, photos, fashion photographers, photo portfolio, photographers, portrait photographers, fashion photographer galleries, photo, photographer, portfolios, portfolio, black and white photography, photography, Model, Models, Glamour Models, Fashion Modeling, Female Model Portfolios, Male Model Portfolios, Swimsuit Models, Lingerie Models, Non Nude Models, Modeling Portfolios, Female Photography, Male Models, Female Models, Male Photography, Female Photography, Female Figure, Model Portfolio I would recommend a site map. To be honest Bill, if you came to me to SEO your site... I would rework your home page quite a bit (after I was convinced of the most appropriate keyword phrase(s). Sorry, but here you only get my two cents (but a darn good value if I do say so myself!). Quote
greatfolios sysop Posted June 27, 2003 Author Posted June 27, 2003 here you only get my two cents (but a darn good value if I do say so myself!) Absolutely! (Thanks for the input) I do have couple of questions to help me better understand.... Do text links cary more weight than banner links with respect to search engines? or was there some other reason. The onsite links were to justify those same words in the keyword section of the meta tags, my thinking was to keep from being seen as spamming the meta tag keywords, I needed to link those words to the various sections of the site.... (is this not a good idea?) dsdemmin, Thank you again for taking your time to help us all with our sites! Quote

(is this not a good idea?) The logic is good but the application is not. The jammed together links at the bottom which our keyword rich is a flag for spamming. My recommendations hold, get rid of the links and add a site map. Quote
