I am trying to setup a Joomla! CMS here on TCH and I have some questions regarding the installation....

During the installation phase, on step one, it asks some questions about the site....

Host Name: (I have been puting 'localhost' and that seems to be the only thing that works.. .is that correct?)

MySQL UserName : (I created a user and gave 'em ALL Privliges and am using the full name as shown in Cpanel MySQL Account Maintenance 'IMade1_Thisup' .)

MySQL Password: (I am using the password I set for the user above)

MySQL Database Name: (I am calling it Joomla)

MySQL Table Prefix: (I am using default)

When I do this, I get a message...

"A database error occurred: Access denied for user: 'IMade1_Thisup@localhoset to database 'Joomla' SQL=CREATE DATABASE 'Joomla'

I am assuming that I the user I created 'IMade1_Thisup' does not have the needed access or something.

Account Management for MySQL says 'IMade1_Thisup (Privileges: ALL PRIVILEGES)'

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forums Scott ;)

You are on a shared server so your database name is not Joomla it would be Your-Cpanel-name_Joomla same for your user name it is preceded with Your-Cpanel-name_

And don't forget to add the user to the database.

Do I need to create the database manually to get this to work. I tried putting 'MyCpanelName_Joomla' and recieved the same error.

Thanks for the super fast reply!

I figured it out... I had to create a blank database named joomla and then associate the user I created with it and give 'em all rights... then it worked like a charm... Thanks!
