rnmcd Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I have a vbulletin forum running on one of my TCH hosted sites. When a new user regsiters they are sent an activation email that contains a link for them to click. When the link is clicked the new user is sent a "Welcome" email. Why would the activation email for my forum get sent to the inbox but the Welcome email gets sent to junk? The Welcome email is received in the junk box just moments after activation. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I'd have a look at the headers on the email sent, along with the settings / filters on the junk mail. If you are using spam assassin, it will tell you on the headers why it has given it the score it has. Quote

I wonder if it could have been considered junk since it was sent from the same email address that sent the activation email less than a minute earlier. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 That would depend on your spam filters. What are you using to send things to junk? Is this accounts on our servers ? Using spam assassin? Or is it to say a yahoo or gmail account ? Quote

TCH-Bruce Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Add the domain to your whitelist and it will stop sending them to the junk folder. Quote
rnmcd Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 Add the domain to your whitelist and it will stop sending them to the junk folder. I'm just worried about other forum members that have hotmail. I would expect hotmail to, at least, be consistent with what they put in junk. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Can you PM me the full headers to both emails (so that should be one that goes to junk, and one that doesn't) and I'll take a quick look, and see if I can spot what's causing it. Quote
rnmcd Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 Oddly enough, the first email to the hotmail user goes to their inbox but it looks like all subsequent emails ("Welcome to the Forum," and subscribed thread emails end up in their junk box). They are NOT reporting the first email as spam/junk. Quote
