mklappen Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Hi I have convinced a friend to transfer a site I manage for them to TCH, I read through other posts but didn't find answers... When I have them open a TCH account how long does a transfer normally take? The site is currently hosted on Geocities, will I need to manually ftp the files from there to the new TCH account or is copying the files part of the process of transferring? Finally, how difficult is it to transfer the actual website name to someone else? (i.e. Current owner of www.website.com wants to give sitename to new owner). Is that something that can be done through TCH? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks mk Quote
cajunman4life Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 If it's on geocities, then yes you would need to facilitate the transfer yourself via FTP. As for transfering ownership of the domain name, that's something that will have to be handled through the domain registrar. Let me know if I haven't fully answered your questions and I'll be happy to elaborate Have a wonderful evening. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 MK, Aaron covered the transfer FTP part. Changing registrant information is not difficult. For example, with TCH you log into your account and select "Change Account" Then you fill out the information it asks for and an email is sent to the person that will be getting the domains. All the have to do is follow the instructions in the email and the domain is theirs. Then they can change the name servers to the one stated in the welcome email and lock the name. Quote
mklappen Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 I'll give it a try, thanks for the quick replies! Quote
