Hello,

I'm new at the 'reseller' aspect of the website business - I have two websites operational now and one on the way. I wish to transfer all three to a single reliable hosting service and resell hosting to my customers. I have some questions regarding doing this? I apologize up front if my questions show my lack of experience.

1. When you say "unlimitted sub domains", what exactly does that mean? Will my customers be able to have their own unique domain name without needing to add my domain name to it? Example, if my domain name was www.callpconsite.com, would my customers domain name have to be www.cutomer.callpconsite.com or would they be able to be simply 'www.customer.com".

2. Is it difficut to transfering websites to your hosting service? Is there a fee for this? As I mentioned, I have two websites that I need to transfer initially - presently, they are hosted at different hosting companies.

3. What is the cost of transfering registration of domain names? Does this need to be done before I can use the name-servers for e-mail purposes?

4. Is C-panel easy to use? Do you have an example to try out?

5. Can my customers have access to manage C-Panel for their own purposes if they desire?

Thank you for your help and information - I look forward to getting started.

Best Regards

Welcome to the forums, codawson!

"Unlimited subdomains" in this case means your (reseller) domain is allowed unlimited subdomains. Your customers will be able to have their own unique domain names that are not subdomains of your reseller domain. Your customers may also be allowed to have unlimited subdomains of their own (using their own domain name), if you allow it in your hosting packages.

2. Is it difficut to transfering websites to your hosting service?  Is there a fee for this?  As I mentioned, I have two websites that I need to transfer initially - presently, they are hosted at different hosting companies.

The only ways I'm aware for transferring a web site to TCH is either via FTP or a CPanel site-to-site copy.

For FTP, you would have to download your site from the other host, then upload it to the TCH server. TCH does not transfer sites via FTP for you, so there is no fee, although any bandwidth used to upload your site will count against your monthly bandwidth usage.

If the other host uses CPanel on their servers, the TCH Help Desk may be able to use CPanel to copy your site from the server at your old host directly to the TCH server. There is no fee for this service - you'd just need to submit a ticket to the Help Desk and ask for it.

3. What is the cost of transfering registration of domain names?  Does this need to be done before I can use the name-servers for e-mail purposes?

The cost to transfer a domain to TCH depends on the top level domain (.com, .net, etc.). Prices start at $10.95 and include a one year extension of the domain registration. I don't believe that you have to transfer the domain name to TCH to use it for routing e-mail, but the DNS record would need to be updated so it correctly pointed at the TCH servers.

4. Is C-panel easy to use?  Do you have an example to try out?

CPanel is very easy to use. (That's one reason for it's popularity.) There is no online demo available to try out - sorry! :(

5. Can my customers have access to manage C-Panel for their own purposes if they desire?

Each customer that you create an account for will have their own CPanel, separate from yours and any other customers.

Hope this helps...

Thank you very much for answering all my questions so thoroughly - I realized I piled a lot of them up on you. Well, I'm ready to sign up - I've read a lot of your customer comments - I can't see how I could ask for more.

Kind Regards,

C. Dawson
