Can you create a page with word press and have your domain name directed to it. For example: my web site is http://www.thebigtimer.com , can I make it that the page I construct with word press is obtained by typing in the web site address as listed above? If so, how can I do this?

Yes, in cpanel you can redirect your main index.html page to a folder/file

such as your word press page.

Just use cpanel > redirects

enter the main page like index.html

then the full URL to the page your are redirecting to

and select temp or permanent (for search engines)
