I have a friend who asked me for a recommendation for a low-cost webhosting service and I was glad to tell her about TCH. She was impressed with the price of the Starter Plan and thought it would meet her needs. But she had a question about email, so I sent her to the help website. She said she gets migraines and that it hurt to look at the website. In her own words:

Flashy-blinky stuff (as on the home & help pages at TCH), if not always inducing migraines in the susceptible, is usually painful to us.  I couldn't look at their site--it's like getting poked in the eyes.  Many websites are no-go places for me, and I'll bet lots of sites lose traffic because of such pulsating effects.  I've yet to see that mentioned in web design, but it's a young field and 2-d stuff doesn't move so it wasn't a consideration before.
So I was wondering if there was a plain text or lo-fi version of the help site and I guess the main site that lists the plans as well.

Hi Kathy_P,

You don´t tell us which browser your friend uses, but I would use Firefox in which I can download and install an extension called Flashblock. With that extension you can decided whether you want to see flash or not with the click of a button.

I don´t have any problems with migraine but I usually dislike flash for different reasons, but I am a firefox user myself and tried this extension once. The sites with flash becomes dull, but my eyes liked so this is what I would do to minimize the risk for migraine due to flash.

If there are similar flashblockers for Internet explorer and other browsers I don´t know but I am sure that there are more solutions.
