MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I received my welcome email from TCH. and I can't seem to get into my cpanel or get to where i need to set up my site, What is the correcr way to get into my set up to start creating my board. I am at a stand still and don't know what to do next. Thanks Quote
TCH-Rick Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Your nameservers need to be changed to dns3.totalchoicehosting.com and dns4.totalchoicehosting.com. This can be done at the domain management link on our Domain registration page. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Does the welcome email have an IP address to use until the domain name propogates? Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 The nameservers for this domain are currently set "Read-Only" because the domain is locked. Nameserver 1:NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM Nameserver 2:NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM How do I unlock this. Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 (edited) is this what you are referring too Bruce: domain info removed I tried to get in that but I am lost once I am there. Edited August 17, 2005 by TCH-Bruce Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 Ok cool, I got into my cpanel, But what do I do next to get a forum board set up. Thanks for the help. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 There is an option in your domain management to unlock the domain. Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 ok I got the domain unlocked, But I can't seem to find where I choose to set up a forum board. I am about ready to pull my hair out LOL!!! This is alot more compacated than I thought. All help would be very thankful. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 In cPanel select AddOn Scripts. You should see phpBB and Invision there. If either is missing open a help desk ticket and let them know and they can activate them for you to install. Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 thanks bruce. I have found the invision board to install. But it still will not open my site. How can I get into my board to start setting up forums? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Since your domain name hasn't propogated yet it's going to be difficult. You will need to use the IP number and I think that will cause problems. Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 I received my welcome email. Since my domain name hasn't propogated yet. How do I get my domain propogated? Thank you for your time and help, I have waited for a while to get my own site set up. Now I am lost, it is much ahrder than the free boards I have used before, If you can just help me get off the ground I feel I can get going. I have many members waiting for their new home. And I have no clue of how to get the site online so it can be set up. thanks for your time Quote
TCH-Rick Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 It would be best to wait until the domain has propagated to set up the forum. Propagation normally takes a few hours after making a change to the DNS. You can try going to the Run command if you are running Windows XP and typing in ipconfig /flushdns to clear your computer DNS cache. Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 Thank you for your help I will wait and see if my domain gets propogated. I changed nameservers to dns3.totalchoicehosting.com and dns4.totalchoicehosting.com. that is the proper setting? I think I have everything set up to direct to my Moontowermembers.com domain. Does this usually happen with new accounts? thank you for your time. Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 dns3.totalchoicehosting.com and dns4.totalchoicehosting.com Are these the correct nameservers? I want to make sure my invision board I have installed get directed to moontowermembers domain I have set up. is there anything else I need to check to make sure all my settings are correct. Sorry for asking so many questions, But I am so lost and have alot of members waitng on me to figure it out. Thanks for the help. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Yes, they should be set to dns3.totalchoicehosting.com and dns4.totalchoicehosting.com. You are on Server 106 which uses those nameservers. Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 Thank you for your response Rick. You guys have been alot of help, Thanks, Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 Hey guys, Now I can access my board. But I have another problem. When I type in my sites url it takes me to my index and not to my invision board I have set up. What changes can I make to direct the url to go straight to the forum instead of my index. Thanks for the help. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 You will need to use some sort of redirect either by modifying your .htaccess (or creating one) or creating an index page where they can click a link and put a META tag in to send them to the forum. Sorry I am terrible with MOD Rewrite statements. I'm sure someone will offer a suggestion. Hang in there. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 You can do it through cpanel. Go into Redirects. Leave the first box blank and enter the path to where you want it to go. Select permanent if that is your intention. Quote
MOONDAWG2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 (edited) thanks Bruce, That worked, Your the man, You have been very helpful thru all my issues, Thanks again for teaching me the correct way to build a site. Much Respect. Edited July 23, 2005 by MOONDAWG2005 Quote
