Madmanmcp
For those of you interested here is the Website with the information http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/default.mspx
cajunman4life
Thanks for the info. Meanwhile, I don't intend to upgrade. Once support for XP expires, I'll fully switch to Linux (have 5 of 7 pc's running it now, and only keep XP because support for it hasn't ended yet). Just my stance on the matter. TCH-Thomas
Bob: Have you heard any advantages / disadvantages on it? I read one preview with advantages & disadvantages today in a swedish pc magazine but it was translated. Here is the original english one I think. stevevan
At first read, it sounds like XP in a fancier package. Thanks, Thomas!
Deverill
I read the title of this thread and thought about the headline fark.com has on it: "Longhorn is now Vista. If you understand this headline, cripes, go outside" That means most of us should be elsewhere right now, eh?
lightman
On a side note, Microsoft could face a preemptive lawsuit by Vista Software for trademark infringement : http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/busi...crovista23.html That said, Longhorn (err, Vista ) looks like a prettified XP to me. It'll prolly have the same (inexistent) security, will be even more bloated, and moreover it will have (or it is supposed to have) built in DRM, and I foresee *a lot* of problems with it... I just hope Apple will have the intel machines ready by the time Vista comes out (or at least by the time w2k will reach its end-of-life)...
